Forty of these enormous (for the VR) boxvans were built at Newport workshops in 1977 to haul car parts (panels) from Ford Australia's plant at Geelong to its assembly plant near Upfield. The train was a dedicated, daily train. In 1979 the class was recoded VBCW.
