Description:
A curve-sided aluminum-bodied hopper fitted with 4 transverse doors. The main hopper body is 10960mm long and the hopper doors are arranged equally spaced along the length of the wagon. And have pneumatic power doors for unloading. Builders: 300 built by Trans field during 1977-79 were numbered 36251-36550
Coding: Original coded CTS - Recoded NHTF after 1979. Modifications: 27 were converted to NPEF Clinker wagons during 1986/87. - 150 were converted to NGVF Grain hoppers during 2001/02 (unlike the previous rebuild of the NHHF Coal hoppers to NGHF Grain hoppers the NHTF couldn’t carry the T code as the NGTY was still carried by the WTY type Grain hoppers and V was apparently the next available letter thus becoming the NGVF) Colour Scheme: As delivered, the hopper body was unpainted stainless steel with a 2-tone blue L7 logo. The ends and chassis was PTC Blue. Bogies were black In time they weathered to a heavy grime dark grey/black When Freight Rail was renamed Freight Corp, these logos were placed on some of the wagons With the sale of Freight Corp to Pacific National, PN have applied its own corporate logo to only a couple of the hoppers, most have only just had the old emblem painted out usually with black paint, but some with silver. After PN put several hundred of the coal hoppers into long term storage at Pt Augusta, CRL purchased them and then CRL Merged with SSR which lead to those coal hoppers being modified into grain wagons and being classed as BGVF, Several coal hoppers with the bomb-bay style doors were also obtained by SSR and reclassed to BGKF.
